Amber Creek was different right away. Ezra came out, walked the space with us, asked thoughtful questions — and within maybe twenty minutes we felt like we were in good hands. Turns out Ezra's a real dog lover too. Our two dogs, Shelly and Max, are usually a pretty good judge of character, and they were all over him from the minute he walked through the gate — so maybe that's how we knew. Either way, it felt like the right fit almost immediately.
Ezra is also something of an artist, gave us loads of ideas that we hadn't tough of and he was the one who did the work alongside his crew — he didn't just sub the project out, which I have to say I'm really glad about. That always feels like you got something you weren't asking for.
The budget gave us pause. We definitely had one of those "are we really doing this?" conversations. But we've done cheap before and we're still living with those choices. This felt different from the start, so we decided to trust it. And I'm really glad we did.
There were a couple of hiccups during the build — one with materials that set us back about ten days, another with the layout that had to be adjusted on the fly — but nothing ever turned into a headache. No finger pointing, no tension, no awkward calls where we felt like the problem. Ezra just handled it, made the right calls, and kept things moving. We barely felt the bumps.
Now? Our deck and super cozy built-in fire pit have completely changed how we use our backyard — honestly, our whole home. We've hosted more in the last four months than we did in the previous two years combined. Our friends compliment it all the time.
Looking back, I think the real value was in how the entire process was handled. That's the part you don't fully appreciate until you've been through it.
